Backtesting
Learning how to backtest my systems in Metatrader lately. This really is a richly featured program, and the fact that it's free really blows my mind. I'm very impressed. Does anyone have any resources (other than the guide on metaquotes) for writing experts and such with the MQL language? Also, do any of you guys trade with moving average crosses? I've been backtesting and modifying a few systems that utilize WMA crosses for signals. They perform pretty well on the majors. Just curious if anyone actively trades with a system like that.
Thanks ambrose, I was actually just looking over that strategy the other day. I'm currently learnng Murrey Math, and hope to develope a good exit strategy. Thanks for the comment.

Hey spahiu. yea everything is good. Just a little busy with missions over here. Expecting internet in my room by the end of the month. Then I can start trading again.

I think moving average crosses are the best way to catch a trend early. The problem of course are the whipsaws that it can take you in. That is why we all use these crazy indicators, haha. What I would do if I were you is use a cross as your "alert" and then find indicators that work best in helping you avoid whipsaws. I love using the EU session hi/low as my whipsaw filter. It's saved me many many times :) Hope you're doing well over there. Take it easy dingo!

Thanks for the great comments guys. I'm still doing good here in Iraq. Looking at getting internet in my room by month's end. It's killing me not being able to at least demo trade over here. Take care and happy trading guys.
